Terms of Service
The deal, in plain English.
Last updated July 21, 2026
These are the terms for using BuildLeverage.org. We wrote them to be read, not survived. By using the platform, you agree to them.
What BuildLeverage.org is
BuildLeverage.org is software that helps advocacy organizations turn supporters into district-matched, voter-matched pressure — petitions, calls, donations, and the tools to organize them. We provide the platform. Organizations are responsible for the campaigns they run on it and for following the laws that apply to them.
Your account
Keep your login secure and make sure the information you give us is accurate. You’re responsible for what happens under your account and for the people you invite into it. Build Leverage is for the organization that signed up — don’t resell or hand your access to someone else without our okay.
Your content
The content you put into BuildLeverage.org — your supporter list, petitions, and messages — stays yours. You grant us the permission we need to host, process, secure, back up, and display it so the service can actually run, and to use it to operate and improve the platform. We don’t sell it, and we don’t mine it for advertising, because we don’t run ads. How we handle personal data is in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Use BuildLeverage.org for legitimate civic advocacy. Don’t use it to break the law, to harass or threaten people, to send messages to lists you don’t have permission to contact, to impersonate someone, or to attack, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform. Don’t use it to deceive people about who’s behind a campaign.
We reserve the right — at our discretion — to remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put the platform, its users, or its mission at risk. We’ll be reasonable, but the call is ours.
Money
Paid plans are billed as described when you sign up; fees are non-refundable except where required by law or where we say otherwise in writing. Donations made through the platform go to the organization running the campaign, handled by our payments processor — we’re not the recipient of those funds and don’t control how an organization uses them. We may change pricing going forward, with notice before it affects your plan.
Availability and changes to the service
We’re building fast, and the product will change. We may add, modify, or remove features, and we may schedule maintenance or make changes needed to keep the platform secure and running. We aim to avoid disruption, but we don’t promise the service will always be uninterrupted.
No warranties
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We work hard to keep it accurate, available, and secure, but we don’t promise it will be error-free or never go down. Political data — including voter and district matching — is our best, well-built estimate, not a certified public record, and you’re responsible for how you use it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, BuildLeverage.org is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. This is the trade that lets a small team build ambitious tools at prices advocacy organizations can actually afford.
You cover your own campaigns
You’re responsible for the campaigns you run and the messages you send. To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover BuildLeverage.org against claims that arise from your content, your use of the platform, or your violation of these terms.
Ending things
You can stop using BuildLeverage.org whenever you want and export your data on the way out. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or creates risk for the platform. If we ever wind the service down, we’ll give reasonable notice and a way to get your data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product grows. We’ll change the date above and give appropriate notice of material changes. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the new version.
